Johnson suffered a broken toe

Andy Johnson has been forced to pull out of the Wales squad that plays Bosnia on Wednesday.

The West Brom midfielder broke a toe in the game against Bolton, with initial reports suggesting the injury occurred in celebrations with team mates following his goal.

But the player later denied this, saying: "I did not break my toe in the goal celebrations. It happened at the free-kick that led to our goal.

"Per Frandsen stood on my foot and broke a toe. I did feel it at the time but I'm glad I stayed on."

The 29-year-old, who had been expected to win his tenth cap, scored a vital equaliser in injury time against fellow relegation strugglers Bolton.

The withdrawal is the latest in a long line of injuries that have affected Mark Hughes' side.

Wales will be without Aston Villa full-back Mark Delaney, who underwent a knee operation last week.

Cardiff's Danny Gabbidon will play no part due to a persistent back problem, while Wolves striker Nathan Blake also has a toe injury - he has joined the squad but will not play.

Better news came when Ryan Giggs arrived at the team's Cardiff hotel, despite Manchester Utd manager Alex Ferguson's claim that his star winger has a calf strain.

Celtic striker John Hartson was a late arrival, flying in from Glasgow after his side's victory over Livingston, while Newcastle's Craig Bellamy and Gary Speed linked up with the squad after their side's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
