Chambers injury blow
West Brom midfielder Adam Chambers
Chambers signed a three-year deal last month
West Brom's Adam Chambers is set to miss the first three months of the Premiership season with a knee injury.

The 21-year-old midfielder damaged knee ligaments on Sunday while playing in a testimonial game for Telford United's Lee Fowler.

Initial reports suggested Chambers would only be sidelined for a week, but a scan on Tuesday revealed the injury was more serious.

Chambers is not expected to figure again for the first team before the Baggies' trip to Bolton on 9 November.

"The prognosis suggests Adam will be out for between 10 and 12 weeks," boss Gary Megson told the club's official website.

"He's bitterly disappointed because the Premiership is about to kick off and he's going to miss the first three months."

  • West Brom have granted veteran striker Bob Taylor a testimonial for the forthcoming season.

The 35-year-old has scored 131 goals in 297 appearances in two spells with Albion.

His most recent goal came in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of last season which secured the Baggies' promotion to the top-flight for the first time in 16 years.
