Stewart Houston has parted company with Walsall after just a month as the Saddlers' first-team coach.

Former QPR boss Houston was given a short-term deal by Saddlers' boss Colin Lee, who opted not to extend it.

Lee said: "Stewart joined the club on a short-term basis to help me through the early weeks of the season.

"I am grateful for his hard work and meticulous planning during his time with us," Lee told Walsall's official website.

"However, I appreciate that Stewart wants to seek a more permanent arrangement with a club and I wish him every success for the future.

Houston said: "Unfortunately, the arrangement was only for a month and I would have preferred a bit longer to make more of an impact

"I have enjoyed working with Colin and they are a smashing bunch of lads at Walsall."

Houston's departure was followed by the resignation of physiotherapist Duncan Russell.

Russell said: "I take away some happy memories but it is time to move on."
