Chadwick move on hold
Luke Chadwick
Chadwick is keen to play first-team football
Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence admits there is no chance of signing Manchester United winger Luke Chadwick in the next fortnight - but insists he is still confident of completing a deal.

The 22-year-old wide-man has made just five first-team appearances for United this season and is keen to play first-team football.

But a proposed loan deal to Ninian Park could be on hold for the time being because of transfer window regulations.

In order to ensure Chadwick is available for the end-of-season play-offs, Cardiff will have to delay their approach until the end of the month because extensions to existing loan deals are not permitted.

"Luke will not be joining us before Saturday and will probably not be joining us before the Saturday after either," said Lawrence.

"However, we are still pursuing an interest in the player."

Lawrence revealed he will definitely sign at least one player before the end of the transfer deadline.

Premiership duo Andy Melville and John Robinson are on his shopping list, but Lawrence admits tempting them to join will be difficult.

He also denied reports that the club have terminated the contract of former China captain Fan Zhiyi.
