Hull 0-0 York

A bumper crowd of more than 18,000 suffered a frustrating afternoon at Hull but York will be happy to settle for a point after a tame goalless draw.

York could have become the first away team to win at Hull's new home but missed some good chances.

Peter Duffield shot over the crossbar from six yards after Michael Reddy teed him up in the 26th minute.

Hull enjoyed most of the first-half pressure however, with Ryan Williams going close with a drilled shot.

New boy Jamie Forrester sent a 25-yard effort narrowly wide soon after.

Stuart Green then tested Michael Ingham in the York goal with a low drive from 25 yards.

Hull continued in the same vein after the break and only a brilliant stop by Ingham prevented Forrester scoring a debut goal.

York looked most likely to snatch victory late on but Reddy missed their best opportunity, somehow shooting wide from close range with the goal at his mercy.

Hull: Musselwhite, Regan, Anderson, Joseph, Holt, Green, Ashbee, Delaney, Williams, Forrester, Elliott. Subs: Fettis, Webb, Jevons, Whittle, Melton.

York: Ingham, Cooper, Parkin, Brass, Jones, Cowan, Bullock, Potter, Nogan, Duffield, Reddy. Subs: Wood, Fox, Collinson, Wise, Yalcin.

Referee: G Hegley (Hertfordshire)
