Zamalek go for glory
Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan with the Champions League trophy
The twins will play no part in the game on Friday

Zamalek of Egypt will make African football history if they win the Super Cup on Friday.

They would become the first team to retain the trophy for winning the title three times.

The winners of the African Champions League take on Wydad Casablanca, winners of the Cup Winners Cup, in a game that is being much anticipated in Cairo.

Zamalek already have the Champions League trophy to keep forever, after winning it for a third time.

Carlos Cabral, Zamalek's coach
Cabral has banned the twins
The Egyptian giants first won the Super Cup in 1994 when they beat their eternal arch-rivals, Al Ahly, 1-0 in Johannesburg.

They beat more Egyptian opposition, Arab Contractors, 4-2 on penalties in 1997.

Zamalek have the advantage in Friday's match by playing at home, where they will be backed by huge numbers or fans.

But the atmosphere at the game looks likely to be marred by the continued absence of Hassan twins, who have been suspended by Brazilian coach Carlos Capral for more than a month.

The brothers, who are considered the most famous players in the history of Egyptian football, have had a series of disputes with Capral.

At 37 years old, they are nearing the ends of their careers, and as much as fans want to see them play, the results the Brazilian has achieved without them has gained him much support.

However, some of the club officials are putting pressure on him to recall the twins before they announce their retirements

But the Brazilian looks set to stick to his guns.

"We drew with Ahly 2-2 without them last week and we were the better side. I have a lot of good young players, who can handle the responsibility," Capral told BBC Sport Online.

In contrast to Zamalek, things seem to be much calmer in the Moroccan camp.

Wydad are looking for their first Super Cup title, and captain Ibrami Lahssien is confident.

"We can compete with Zamalek and get a good result in the Cairo stadium."
