Raja fined after sponsor row

Raja changed their shirt sponsor (centre) for the second leg
Caf Champions League runners-up Raja Casablanca are facing stiff financial penalties after displaying the logo of a banned sponsor on their shirts for the first leg of the final in Morocco.

During the match in Casablanca against Zamalek, which finished 0-0, Raja wore shirts featuring the logo of Coca-Cola.

But Coca-Cola's rivals Pepsi-Cola are a major sponsor of the competition itself, and Caf warned Raja of a conflict of interest and instructed them not to use the Coca-Cola logo.

As a result of Raja's failing to comply, the Moroccans were handed the maximum fine of $15,000.

They also stand to lose part of the $750,000 they earned in the competition.

Caf have suspended Raja's share of the marketing and television revenue until the competition's marketing company decide on a possible claim for compensation.

Raja used a different sponsor for the second leg in Cairo, which they lost 1-0.

Meanwhile, Caf also confirmed a one-year suspension for the Rouiba stadium in Algiers.

It follows the stoning of Tunisian referee Mourad Daami at the end of the African Cup Winners' Cup semi-final match between USM Alger and the tournament's eventual winners Wydad Casablanca.

A similar ban was placed on the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, after injury to Tunisian linesman Taoufik Oueslati.

That occurred in the second leg of the Caf Cup final, in a match between Tonnerre Yaounde and JS Kabylie of Algeria.

The one-year ban applies only to Tonnerre Yaounde's matches in African club competition and not to international games.
