Hassan on verge of history
Hassan is on the verge of a memorable double
Hassan, playing for Egypt, is an African legend

Zamalek star Hossam Hassan is looking forward to making history when he spearheads Zamalek's attack against Raja Casablanca.

He holds the Egyptian hopes for a second successive Champions' League title after Zamalek's archrivals Al Ahly won it last year.

Hassan, the most capped player in the African continent, has the chance to add another unique achievement to his record book.

The 37-year-old striker will be playing in the final of the Champions' League for the second time, 15 years after he led former club Ahly to the title in 1987.

Hassan told BBC Sport Online what winning a second African title would mean to him.

"It would be a great accomplishment. I am very excited about it and I hope it comes true," Hassan said.

Hassan created controversy two years ago when, along with his twin brother Ibrahim, he moved from Ahly to bitter rivals Zamalek.

"I helped Zamalek in winning the national league and I am proud of that.

"I hope I will also assist them to win their favourite African title."

"I know that Ahly's fans will be supporting me for the first time since I left my old club.

"This makes me determined and motivated to win."

But the old Pharaoh knows that getting Friday's $1 million prize will not be an easy task.

"Drawing in Morocco does not mean that the cup is ours but we are one step closer."

"Any team that reaches the final is a very good team.

"We must concentrate hard and do our best to get to the happy end," Hassan insisted.

BBC Sport Online will provide live coverage of the final from 1700 GMT on Friday.
