Barakat is Egypt's best
Mohammed Barakat
Barakat has attracted interest from European clubs

Egypt International Mohamed Barakat has been voted as the country's player of the year.

Barakat, who received 68 votes out of a possible 100, had an impressive season with league champions Ismailia, which won the title without defeat.

Barakat recently returned from an unsuccessful trial with English premier league club Fulham but is reportedly weighing offers from other interested European sides.

Ahmed "Mido" Hossam was selected as Egypt's leading foreign-based professional.

Ahmed
Mido has a promising future with Egypt

Playing for Ajax Amsterdam in Holland, the 19 year-old scored 14 goals, which were instrumental in their league and Cup double last season.

Hossam Ghaly of Al Ahly is Egypt's top youth player, while Essam El Hadary is best goalkeeper.

Gamal El Ghandour, who faced fierce criticism following his performance in the World Cup quarter-final between Spain and Korea was picked as the best referee.

The 45-year old is in the twilight of his career, as he reaches the age of retirement.
