Watson has yet to drop a set in the Australian Open girls' singles
Guernsey's Heather Watson is through to the third round of the Australian Open girls' singles after beating South Africa's Chanel Simmonds 6-2, 6-1.
The 16-year-old, who is the ninth seed, took just over an hour to beat the world junior number 50.
Watson, who is ranked 13th in the world, will now face Japan's unseeded world number 27, Miyabi Inoue.
The winner of that match could face the Russian number three seed Ksenia Pervak in the quarter-finals.
Afterwards Watson told the BBC Guernsey that the intense heat at Melbourne forced her to change her game plan.
"The first four games were very long and very tough and I just thought to myself if we have these long rallies I'm going to be exhausted, so I tried to shorten up the points and that worked well," she said.
And she said the experience of a first Grand Slam event on foreign soil has so far been a good one.
"I love playing Grand Slams now, I want to play all of them and I can't wait until I'm playing in the seniors.
"You're with all these other famous players that you want to be one day and there are so many people there watching and supporting, it's a lot of fun."
