Guernsey's teenage tennis star Heather Watson made it to the quarter-finals of the Austrian Junior Open on Wednesday.

The national under-16s champion beat Anastasia Mukhemetova in the second round to make it into the last 16 of the tournament.

Watson beat Mukhemetova, her doubles partner from the previous week's German Junior Open, in two sets 7-5 6-1.

In the first round of the Grade One competition on Tuesday Watson defeated Paula Kania of Poland 6-2 6-0.

She is expected to come up against the number two seed, Richel Hogenkamp of Holland on Thursday.
