Brits' injury misery continues
British number one Tim Henman
Henman faces a battle to reach the Masters Cup
Britons Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski have both pulled out of next week's CA Trophy in Vienna with injuries.

Henman has still to fully recover from the shoulder injury that troubled him during the US Open.

And Rusedski continues to be troubled by the foot injury that kept him out of the Davis Cup last month.

British number one Henman saw Britain through the tie with Thailand without problems, but woke up in pain last week and underwent a second MRI scan.

"When I saw the specialist on Monday he gave me his thoughts not only on the MRI scan but also on what he thought had caused the problem in the first place," Henman told his official website.

"He thought the bruising to my shoulder was definitely brought about by a posture problem, which I've been aware of for a few weeks now and I've been working to rectify.

"However, he also said that even with the exercises I have to do it will take months not weeks to resolve, so I'm just going to have to be patient."

It is particularly bad news for Henman, who is desperate to keep collecting ranking points as he aims to qualify for the season-ending Masters Cup.

Henman is currently fifth in the ATP Champions Race after slipping one place through not playing last week, and he must stay in the top seven if he is to qualify for Shanghai.

The next target for a comeback is Madrid from 14-20 October, which will be a demanding week as a strong field chases the extra ranking points on offer at the Masters Series event.

"Fingers crossed I'll be able to start hitting balls some time next week in order to get ready for Madrid," said Henman.
