Hooker Clarke moves to Nottingham

James Clarke
Clarke has represented England at Under-16 and 18 levels

Nottingham have signed hooker James Clarke on loan from London Irish after Alex Loney was ruled out for up to 12 weeks with injury.

Director of rugby Glenn Delaney told the club website: "James is a quality player who is in the Irish academy.

"Losing Alex is a big blow but I have no doubt James will be able to step up to the mark."

Nottingham face their first home game of the season against Plymouth Albion at Meadow Lane on Sunday.

Loney suffered a bang to the knee while playing for the A team at Newark on Monday.

The Green and Whites are currently awaiting scan results to find out the extent of the injury.

Clarke, 18, who has not yet played for the Exiles in the Premiership, will now be dual registered for the rest of the season.
