Meyer led the Blue Bulls to the 2007 Super 14 title |
Leicester head coach Heyneke Meyer has said he does not feel totally prepared for their opening Premiership game of the season at Gloucester on Sunday. The South African told BBC Radio Leicester: "As a new coach there's so much you want to put in. "The coaching staff and a lot of the guys only started late so we're probably not where I wanted to be at this stage of the season. "Going into the first game there's so much more you want to put in." Meyer guided the Tigers through a successful pre-season campaign. Leicester enjoyed wins against Ospreys (30-17) and Australian outfit Western Force (48-7) but lost by just two points away at Biarritz in August. And speaking about Sunday's game the ex-Blue Bulls coach added: "Both sides probably won't execute anything they've done in training but it's about who is the toughest mentally, the fittest and who'll use opportunities, so hopefully it will be us on the day."
