Boer spent eight seasons with Gloucester

Former Gloucester captain Jake Boer may not be returning to Kingsholm in the new season, BBC Radio Gloucestershire has learned.

The BBC understands that talks between the 35-year-old South African and the Cherry & Whites have broken down.

Last month, the flanker said he was hoping to make a return to the club in a mentoring or coaching role.

Boer made a surprise return to the club in October 2009 after two seasons playing in his homeland.

Gloucester refused to confirm or deny the reports.
