Gloucester flanker Jake Boer has said that he wants to remain at Kingsholm next season.

The South African was named captain for last weekend's 29-28 Guinness Premiership win over Saracens.

Boer, 34, turned over the ball for the crucial second try, which eventually sealed victory for Gloucester.

"At this stage, I am playing game to game. I've always said if there's something available at the club I would love to be involved," he said.

Boer has struggled with injuries to his calf, hamstring and eye since returning to Gloucester in October but played the full match against Saracens.

"It has taken me a few weeks to get settled into it, but I finally feel like I'm able to take the 80 minutes again," he continued.

"It was a bit of a lung-buster for the first 20 or 30 minutes (against Saracens). But it was fantastic to finish the 80 minutes and come away with the win."

Boer and his team-mates are now turning their attention towards Sunday's Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final with Wasps.

"We have got a massive challenge, and we know that every game is a must-win game," said Boer. "We can't take our foot off the gas as we are pushing for a European spot."
