Gloucester flanker Jake Boer will leave the club at the end of the season after seven years at Kingsholm. The 31-year-old South African, who also played for Leicester and London Irish, has rejected the option of a one-year contract extension.
He will return to his native Cape Town to pursue business interests.
"There were times when I thought I would be in England forever but now the time is right for me to go home but it was a difficult decision," said Boer.
Boer led Gloucester to the Powergen Cup in 2003 and was named the Premiership's player of the year that season.
Coach Dean Ryan added: "Gloucester are going to miss a player of Jake's attitude and commitment, of that there can be no doubt.
"He has been a fantastic servant to Gloucester and we wish him and his family all the best for the future."
