 Jake Boer captained Gloucester to Powergen Cup glory |
Gloucester flanker Jake Boer has won the Zurich Premiership Player of the Season Award. The South African topped a poll of 10 rugby journalists, which included the BBC's Ian Robertson, to win the award.
The other finallists were Ludovic Mercier of Gloucester, Andrew Blowers of Northampton and Richard Hill of Saracens.
Boer joined Gloucester two seasons ago from London Irish and his bullocking style of play has been integral to Gloucester's success this season.
He captained Gloucester to win this year's Powergen Cup and will play a key role when the Cherry and Reds play London Wasps in the Zurich Premiership Final on 31 May.
