Titterrell started only five games for Gloucester in the 2008-09 season |
Gloucester have confirmed that hooker Andy Titterrell has left the club, despite having a year left on his contract at Kingsholm. The 28-year-old has been released along with Matthew Watkins, who has already joined Newport Gwent Dragons. "They're both great lads but I couldn't make any promises about chances in the first team," said Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath. "We told them they were free to explore other options and wish them both well." Titterrell joined Gloucester from Sale in 2007 on a three-year contract, but dropped down the pecking order behind Olivier Azam and Scotland international Scott Lawson, who arrived in September 2008. | 606: DEBATE |
He is playing for the Help For Heroes team at the Middlesex Sevens this weekend, listed as unattached. Darren Dawidiuk, a summer signing from Cornish Pirates, completes Gloucester's choices at hooker for the new season. Both Watkins and Titterrell - who was selected for the 2005 British and Irish Lions squad - began their pre-season work with Gloucester while looking for other clubs.
