Skinstad leads Springboks
Brent Russell takes on the Wales defence in Bloemfontein
Brent Russell is a surprise starter at fullback
South Africa v Wales in the second Test at Newlands, Cape Town, Saturday 15 June (kick-off 1400 BST).

Live on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru.

Bob Skinstad will continue to lead South Africa when they face Wales in the second Test in Cape Town on Saturday.

Skinstad led the Springboks in their 34-19 win over Wales in Bloemfontein last weekend.

But it was widely expected that the return of Corne Krige to the starting line-up after a training injury would see a change in the captaincy.

However, coach Rudolf Straeuli has kept faith with the leadership qualities of his dynamic No 8 in a side showing four changes to the starting line-up.

Straeuli said he would continue his policy of naming his captain on a match-by-match basis.

The biggest surprise is the inclusion of rookie fly-half Brent Russell at full-back, where he replaces Ricardo Loubscher, injured in the first Test.

"He can play scrum-half, fly-half and centre and has played at fullback, so we are comfortable to put him there," Straeuli said, despite fears of wind and rain on the day of the match..

Russell made his international debut in Bloemfontein but in his usual No 10 position, as Andre Pretorius shifted to the last line of defence.

However, Pretorius has been retained at fly-half where he again partners Johannes Conradie.

Elsewher in the backline, De Wet Barry is reunited with Stormers teammate Marius Joubert after recovering from a knock picked up during training.

He replaces veteran centre Andre Snyman, who drops out of the 22-man squad altogether.

In the forwards, Warren Britz makes way at blindside flanker for Krige, while Quinton Davids will make his debut after spending last weekend's game on the bench.

He replaces Victor Matfield, who drops out of the squad altogether, with another Stormer, Hottie Louw, taking his place on the bench.

"Matfield has the opportunity to go back and fight his way back into the side," Straeuli added, "as have all the players who are not in the team at the moment. The door is not closed for him."

Louw is one of three uncapped players on the bench, with the other being Sharks scrum-half Craig Davidosn and Stormers utility-back Werner Greeff.

Wales will name their starting 15 on Thursday afternoon.
