Cornish Pirates backs coach Harvey Biljon has said physical conditioning will be vital to the side's success over the course of the season.

The Pirates are currently third in the Championship, having won eight of their 12 matches.

Biljon said: "We've got to have a look at the boys' bodies and make sure that we keep players fit and raring to go.

"There are a couple of knocks, so we've just got to make sure that we manage the players right."

Biljon was quick to point out that even if injuries do disrupt selection plans, the players on the sidelines are more than capable of fitting in.

He told BBC Cornwall: "We've got confidence in every player in the squad.

"We can call on anyone and be comfortable that they can step in and do the job."

The Pirates suffered their third defeat of the season on Sunday, losing 23-16 away at London Welsh.
