Davies is now targeting a second away win at Nottingham |
Cornish Pirates forwards coach Ian Davies says he is content to be third in the Championship after 10 games. The Pirates have won seven of their opening league fixtures, including an impressive 23-21 reverse of pre-season favourites Worcester. Davies told BBC Cornwall: "We're there or thereabouts of where we thought we'd be at this stage. "We had a couple of slip-ups, but also a great game at Worcester to hopefully put an end to our away-day blues." The Pirates' win away at Worcester was their first in the league for 10 months, ending a run that stretched back to their 27-12 defeat of Coventry in December 2009. Davies is now hoping the side can start to win more matches on the road, starting against Nottingham on Sunday. He said: "We've focused heavily on Nottingham not only because we want to prove that we can win away from home. "Also they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season so we've got to measure ourselves against those guys if we want to be in the play-offs."
