Roberts also plays at full-back for Launceston |
Launceston's joint head coach Mal Roberts has said his players have the ability to take the side off the bottom of the National One table. Launceston started the season with a 20-point deficit after being punished for going into voluntary liquidation. Roberts told BBC Cornwall: "We've assembled a squad that is more than up for the challenge. "It's never smooth running with these things but we've got a couple of sides in our sights now." He added: "We need to start performing and start getting results and start clambering some points back." The Cornish club are currently on zero league points, only 12 behind local rivals Redruth, who are second-from-bottom in the standings. After losing 36-7 away at Macclesfield last time out, Roberts said this Saturday's visit of Coventry to Polson Bridge gives the side a perfect chance to move onto a positive points tally. He said: "I don't think we're a million miles away, even though last Saturday was an absolute disaster. "Coventry has now turned into an even bigger test. It's a test of our character, and how much the boys are willing to put into the performance."
