Campbell said his players had already had their wake-up call |
Guernsey captain Blair Campbell says his side need to change their mentality after a 25-13 defeat at Guildford cost them top spot in London Two South West. Victory for the Surrey side saw them move a point ahead of the island side with six weekends of fixtures left. Guernsey captain Blair Campbell said: "We've got to change the mentality of the guys, get them thinking that we're not as good as we thought we were. "I think they just wanted it a lot more than we did," he added. "They came out of the blocks running and within five to 10 minutes were up by seven points and we just couldn't get back. | We should still have winning the league as our main goal and I think that's achievable |
"I'd like to say it was a bit of a wake up call for us, but two weeks ago when we lost to Effingham [and Leatherhead] should have been the wake up call we needed for the rest of the season. "The only thing we can do is try and take some positives out of the game and try to learn for our mistakes. "Our scrum worked really well while our lineout was really abysmal. "We should still have winning the league as our main goal and I think that's achievable." Guernsey, who must play Guildford again on 12 March, face Twickenham on Saturday. Campbell said: "What we really need is a good performance. We really need it at home in front of the home crowd to try to get our season kick-started again."
