Esher need to improve for first game, says Mike Schmid
Esher Rugby Club head coach Mike Schmid says he still has work to do to get his squad ready for the start of the Championship season.
Esher begin their campaign away to Moseley on Saturday.
Schimd told BBC Surrey: "We're still not happy with where our game is. We've got three sessions this week to make some big improvements.
"In terms of work ethic and preparation the boys are working extremely hard. We're still finding our consistency."
He added: "The boys are very committed to each other and trying to achieve something big this year.
Schmid admits he didn't get exactly what he wanted from their final pre-season match, a 45-17 victory over French side Lille on Saturday.
"We hoped for better from Lille, a bit more competition. The game descended into a scrappy one and we didn't get the quality of rugby we wanted to play," he said.
"We need to have a good clinical week in order to be prepared because Moseley are an experienced team at this level.
