Esher have signed former Harlequins forwards Ricky Nebbett and Karl Rudzki and Plymouth trio James Waterhouse, Darren Clayton and Geoff Griffiths.

The Surrey side are preparing for next season's Championship campaign.

Esher director of rugby Mike Schmid told BBC Surrey: "We needed a bit more strength, a bit more depth and some leadership up front.

"We wanted the guys to be wise in experience at Championship level or higher to bring our squad along."

He added: "Trying to dive back into a very, very competitive division, it's worth having guys who have been there and know the ins and outs of the league."

Schmid is hopeful of surviving relegation next year, and is targeting a top-eight finish.

He said: "It's going to be a massive challenge for us. Hopefully the players we've added will give us that extra push, a bit more size and a bit more nous.

"We're going to do everything we possibly can to give ourselves the best possible chance of success."
