Surrey paceman Andre Nel has been handed three penalty points by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The former South Africa seamer appeared to throw the ball at Northants' Niall O'Brien in a match last month and was handed a two-match ban by his county. The ECB Cricket Discipline Commission opted to add no further ban but Nel now has six penalty points, and nine will trigger automatic suspension. The commission praised the county for its speed in dealing with the matter.
