Cornish Pirates to return to the Mennaye Field

Cornish Pirates

Cornish Pirates have confirmed they will not play their home matches at the Camborne Rec next season.

The Championship side will now return to playing their games at the Mennaye Field in Penzance.

The Pirates and Camborne RFC were unable to agree about the use of a new events marquee at the Rec.

In a statement, the club's chief executive Rod Coward said: "We don't believe this will have a negative impact upon our ambitions."

He added: "How this move affects the financial health and future of the Pirates is unknown at this stage.

"The club will reimburse any new season ticket holders who cannot see themselves supporting the Club at the Mennaye in the forthcoming season."

The statement continued: "The club is very grateful to Camborne RFC for the use of its ground over the last few years."

The Pirates last played a full season at the Mennaye Field in 2004/05.
