Paul have opened up a 32-point gap between themselves and second-placed St Just at the top of the Cornwall Premier League after beating Truro on Saturday. Paul knocked up 214-9 in their allotted overs, before bowling Truro out for 197 despite a valiant 86 from Tim Marrion. Defending champions St Just were only able to draw their home game with eighth-placed Werrington. Alex Smeeth hit 104 as Werrington finished on 235-7, while St Just could only make 210-7 before the close. Third-placed Grampound Road won by 79 runs at Falmouth, posting a score of 184-5 and then bowling the home side out for 106. Newquay were bowled out for just 74 at St Austell as Andrew Libby took 6-18, with the hosts passing the target for the loss of five wickets. The league's bottoms side, Penzance, avoided defeat for the first time this season as they drew away at Callington. The home side made 239-7 in 55 overs, with Penzance reaching 203-7 at the close of play.
