Brits joined the Pirates from Coventry in August 2009

Cornish Pirates prop Rudi Brits has signed a new contract with the Championship side.

The 29-year-old South African was set to join rivals Bristol but has now decided to remain in Cornwall.

Forwards coach Ian Davies said: "Having Rudi re-sign for us is a fantastic boost for the squad.

"Rudi is one of the best props in the Championship and the Pirates will benefit from his quality as he strives to play in the Premiership."

Brits made 19 appearances for the Pirates in all competitions last season.
