Cornwall missed out on a place in the County Championship final after losing 31-27 at home to Gloucestershire. Cornwall needed to win the tie by at least 25 points in order to top South Division One, but Gloucestershire proved too strong for their hosts. Bristol centre Jack Gadd scored two tries for the visitors as they dominated the first half. But Cornwall responded well after the break with tries from Mark Bright and and Paul Nonu reducing the arrears. Cornwall's revival after half-time ensured they finished the County Championship campaign one point above neighbours Devon, with both sides having won one match apiece. Gloucestershire finished the group stages top of South Division One and will now play Lancashire in the final at Twickenham, while Devon were relegated after coming bottom of the group.
