Cornwall came from behind to beat Hertfordshire at Highfields and keep their County championship hopes alive. After both sides exchanged penalties, tries from Mark Richards and Mark Bright gave Cornwall a 17-3 lead. The home side then scored four tries in quick succession, three by Lee Crompton, to take the lead. But with Hertfordshire leading 30-25 as injury time approached, Bright scored again for Cornwall, and Ian Morgan converted to seal the victory. Cornwall's third try came from Rob Thirlby, while Morgan kicked two penalties and three conversions for the visitors. Richard Gregg added the extras for Hertforshire, kicking two conversion, a penalty and a drop goal. Cornwall must now beat Gloucestershire in their final game of South Division One to stand a chance of going through to the final.
