Cornish Pirates have extended the contracts of five of their first-team squad beyond the end of the season. Fly-half Johnny Bentley has added another year onto his contract, keeping him with the Pirates until 31 May 2011. Flanker Sam Betty, number eight Blair Cowan, scrum-half James Doherty and lock Chris Morgan have all extended their deals until 31 May 2012. Pirates chief executive Rod Coward said: "It is a clear indication of the positive mood that exists at the club." He added: "It indicates the belief the players have that next season our performances and results will get better." The Pirates are currently sixth in the Championship standings and have three games left before the end of the regular season.
