Jersey winger Richard Stevens scores in the corner |
Jersey Rugby Club beat Bournemouth 12-7 in the first match of pre-season at St Peter on Saturday. Bournemouth who play at the same level as Jersey, gave the Island side a good run out, something Jersey coach Ben Harvey was delighted with. "I think they lived up to expectations, I knew they were going to be tough," he told BBC Jersey. "They were well drilled and certainly have a strong pack, good scrum and they put us under pressure in those areas." Bournemouth scored first with a converted try for Duncan Dunkley. Jersey then equalised through new signing Donavon Saunders and it was level at 7-7 at half-time. In a tight second half, Jersey winger Richard Stevens scored the winning try in the left corner. Jersey play Barnes next weekend at home in the second pre-season friendly of the season.
