Jersey captain Ryan Driver showed his class with bat and ball |
Italy proved too strong for Jersey when winning by 44 runs in their one-day clash at Grainville on Thursday. Batting first, Italy benefited from a wet outfield and a sodden ball, reaching 203 before being dismissed in 43 overs. The Italian pair of Crowley (55) and Petricola (65) had taken the score to 121 after 20 overs. In reply, Jersey saw captain Ryan Driver top score with 33 but the hosts were all out for 159. After Italy's impressive start, Jersey regrouped taking nine wickets for 69 with Driver the best of the bowlers with three for 18 from six overs. Driver (33), Andrew Dewhurst (31), Bobby Minty (20) and Sam De La Haye (18) all got starts for Jersey, but tight bowling and poor shot selection meant their batsmen never got going. The sides play a Twenty20 match on Friday at Grainville from 1400 BST.
