Jersey rugby club wants to build a new spectator stand and clubhouse

Jersey Rugby Club has submitted a planning application to the States to build a new stand.

The club wants to have a new spectator stand to the north of the main field with a clubhouse to the south.

The club's chairman, Bill Dempsey, told BBC Radio Jersey that the crowds have been getting bigger since they got promoted into London One.

"The first team got promoted but also the academy, from when it started off some years ago, has grown," he said.

"We've got 50-60 kids in just one age group and so many people who give up their own time every Sunday morning - I just think it's now very family orientated and people want to be involved in it."

The club now has to await planning permission before it can proceed.
