Exeter Chiefs scrum-half and BBC Devon columnist

We were extremely frustrated having put so much into the game but coming away with relatively little. We just were not consistent enough and paid the price

After a convincing win against Newbury, we made the trip up to Coventry in good spirits but knowing that we would be faced with an extremely committed side.

It looked like we were going to push on after scoring some impressive tries but Coventry held firm and managed to get through to half-time very much in touch.

So often as it does, the break in play allowed the momentum to shift.

Coventry had the ascendancy and we just could not regain it. Even though we managed to sneak in front, scoring a fortuitous try, Coventry took the lead with a converted try right at the death which was the nail in the coffin. It shows that you simply can not sit back and let a side play.

When the whistle went, we were extremely frustrated having put so much into the game but coming away with relatively little. We just were not consistent enough and paid the price.

Conceding a lot of points over the last few weeks has been a worrying trend and it is something that needs addressing.

When the result has not gone your way, it is very easy to get yourself in a downward spiral and dwell on the negatives. Every sports team has setbacks. Learning the lessons and moving on positively is very important.

Rotherham are up next, who are in a similar position to Moseley and Coventry in the league, so we are well aware of the threat they pose but one we are going to embrace.

Monday was a slightly different programme to usual as we met up at Northbrook Pitch & Putt to play speed golf. Playing in pairs, your objective is to get around the course as quickly as possible.

Every sports team has setbacks. Learning the lessons and moving on positively is very important.

The reasoning behind it was that it was a bit of fun but it also doubled up as active recovery. Basic time penalties were given for lost balls and not playing in turn.

There was a ridiculous amount of cheating that went on ranging from small misdemeanours, like not starting from the correct place, missing out holes, throwing or kicking the ball instead of using a club.

Serious time penalties were for throwing your golf ball at others. The course was infiltrated with discreet marshalls to try and keep tabs on foul play.

This didn't stop Tom Skelding making it back in nine minutes, with five extra balls, three additional putters and supposedly four holes-in-one (without a bead of sweat on him).

He maintains that it should be an official world record. There are a few still out on the course looking for their balls and clubs who probably disagree with Tom.
