National One side Exeter Chiefs have signed New Zealand Maori prop Hoani Tui from Italian club Calvisano.

Born in Wanganui, New Zealand, Tui has played NPC rugby for Wellington and Taranaki, and was called up to Super 14 side the Hurricanes in 2007.

At 5ft 11ins, Tui weighs in at 18st 12lbs, which makes him the heaviest player in the Chiefs squad.

The 24-year-old is familiar with Sandy Park having played there against Ireland A in the 2007 Churchill Cup.

Tui will arrive at Sandy Park ready for pre-season in June.
