Rhodri McAtee goes over for the first Pirates try of the match |
Cornish Pirates failed to impress for the second week running when they beat National One's bottom side Manchester 25-10 in Sunday. Rhodri McAtee opened the try scoring on 14 minutes before Brian Tuohy and Iva Motusaga each scored tries to give the Pirates a 15-0 lead at half time. Marika Vakacegu made it 20-0 in the second half before Dan Birchall and Andre Wilson went over for Manchester. But Blair Cowan made it safe with his first try for the Pirates late on. "It was one of those games," Pirates prop Peter Cook told BBC Radio Cornwall. "In the first half we just wanted to slow the game down and get control of it and then in the second half we were hoping to use the conditions, keep them in their half and go on from there. "First half there was a lot of good rugby played, but in the second half we lost our way slightly," he said.
