Guernsey failed to score a try against Jersey at St Peter |
Jersey Rugby Club gained some revenge for last season's Siam Cup defeat by beating Guernsey 27-3 in a pre-season friendly at St Peter. Jersey scored five tries, including one from new centre Ashley Maggs and two from winger Ryan Morgan. Nick Barton got Guernsey's only points with an early penalty while Jersey's new kicker Mitch Burton converted one of the tries. Guernsey retained the Siam Cup for the first time in forty years in May. It was the first time they had beaten Jersey on Guernsey soil since 1995. Guernsey are now preparing for another season in London South West Division Three and their captain Simon Sharrott told BBC Guernsey that the game with their semi-professional rivals from London One was great preparation. "We're definitely structured well going into this season. Hopefully we can work on where we can improve in the next few weeks in our training sessions so we can take on the league."
