McAvoy should make his Leeds debut on Boxing Day |
Leeds have made their fifth signing of the season with the capture of former England centre Nathan McAvoy. The 28-year-old was released by Salford at the end of last season and has signed a one-year deal.
"Nathan will provide us with great cover for our backline because he can play either at centre or wing," said Leeds coach Tony Smith.
"He has been highly recommended and I'm sure he will be looking to make the most of this opportunity."
McAvoy will not be one of the top 20 players at Leeds earning in excess of 20,000.
He won the Challenge Cup final and the Super League Grand Final with Bradford and has also played for union side Saracens.
"I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to play for the Rhinos and I truly intend to make my mark with the club," he said.
"I am excited about the start of the new season, there are so many world-class players at the club, especially the young ones, and I hope to make my experience count."
McAvoy, who played for the England Sevens union squad, is set to make his Leeds debut against Wakefield on Boxing Day.
