My best is yet to come - Huddersfield Giants' Robinson

Huddersfield scrum-half Luke Robinson says he has yet to show his best form for the Giants.

The 26-year-old England international signed a new five-year contract at the Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday.

Robinson told BBC Radio Leeds: "Over the last few years both the team and myself have made big progress.

"I have now secured my best playing days here at Huddersfield. I feel my best days are still ahead of me and I want to give my all for the Giants."

Robinson's new deal ties him to the Giants until the end of the 2015 season and replaces the two-year deal he agreed in March.

The half-back was signed from Salford by former coach Jon Sharp and was part of the side that reached the Challenge Cup final in 2009 and the Super League play-off semi-finals last season.

"I love my time here," he added. "The club's ambitions mirror mine.

"Before I retire I want to win things and the club is moving in the right direction to do that.

"The way Ken [Davy, chairman] is taking the club forward is exciting. I want to be part of it and I wanted to pin my future here.

"Hopefully I can carry my England form into the new season for Huddersfield."

Robinson will miss the start of next season after undergoing two operations in the space of two weeks on his return from international duty.

He broke his elbow during the Four Nations and also needed surgery to repair a shoulder injury.

"I have another two weeks with the sling on," said Robinson. "With the elbow they did a bone graft and put a metal plate in it. After four days it was nicely moving and felt like new.

"The shoulder will be a longer process though. I thought I'd be back within four or five weeks of the season, but the medical guys are saying it will be seven or eight.

"I might be being optimistic but I hope to be back by game six.

"I can't wait to get back into it all because pre-season is when you make your most gains and improvements.

"But hopefully being involved with England and the improvement that has made in my game will compensate for me missing pre-season."
