Robinson scored two tries in the victory over Papua New Guinea |
Huddersfield scrum-half Luke Robinson will miss the start of the new Super League season after being injured on England's Four Nations tour. The 26-year-old will undergo surgery on Monday on the broken elbow sustained in the victory over Papua New Guinea. He will then have another operation in around three weeks time on a long-standing shoulder problem. "It's a case of being as patient as I can for the next few months," Robinson told the Huddersfield Examiner. "I've been told the expected recovery time from my shoulder surgery will be around three months," he added. "So, if I'd had that surgery tomorrow then there would have been a chance I'd have been back for the start of the new season. "But I need the elbow done as quickly as possible because that's a break and it needs to be plated. "And it's probably going to be three weeks later before I can have the shoulder surgery now. "I did ask the surgeon if there was any chance I could have both operations done at the same time but he said that would increase the risk of infection and make it impossible for me to carry out even the most basic of functions. The new season starts with the Magic Weekend in Cardiff on 12 February, when Huddersfield take on Warrington. Robinson is due to get married later this month after delaying the ceremony because of the Four Nations tour.
