Huddersfield Town on-loan midfielder Damien Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old, on a season-long loan from Plymouth, injured his knee in Saturday's win over Brighton, and scans have revealed cruciate ligament damage.

Terriers' manager Lee Clark told the club website: "Everyone is absolutely devastated for the lad.

"Most people would agree he has been very good, probably our most consistent player - so the news is a real blow."

The former Northern Ireland international is booked in for an operation on 6 January after which he will remain with the club.

He has impressed so many people here and we will monitor how things progress

"Damien is still our player until the end of the season," Clark said, "so he will stay with us during his rehabilitation.

"We will make sure he gets the best treatment possible and we know that he will do everything to the letter in terms of his recovery, because he is such a good professional.

"As for his long-term future, we will look at the situation at the end of the season. No decision has been made yet, but he has impressed so many people here and we will monitor how things progress."
