Ian Sibbit ran in 11 Super League tries in his 81 games for Salford City Reds |
Bradford have added another new signing for new coach Mick Potter next season by signing Salford forward Ian Sibbit. The 29-year-old second row, who had two spells with Warrington and a season at Melbourne, has penned a two-year deal. Sibbit, who was part of a major clear-out at struggling Salford, will become the sixth new face at Odsal in 2011. Chev Walker (Hull KR), Shaun Ainscough (Wigan), Olivier Elima (Catalans), Bryn Hargreaves (St Helens) and Kiwi Patrick Ah Van have also signed for the Bulls. "It's a great move for me at this stage in my career," said Sibbit, who scored 11 tries in 81 Super League appearances for Salford. "I've been at The Willows for a long time and I was ready for a change so I really couldn't have made a better move. "It came out of the blue but as soon as Bradford came in for me I was ready to sign." | It has been our intentions to increase the size of the squad and the competition for places next year and Ian fits the bill perfectly Bradford Bulls chief executive Ryan Duckett |
Bradford have finished the last two seasons 9th and 10th, comfortably their worst two finishes in 15 years of Super League. They experienced a nightmare run of 12 straight defeats following the announcement in April of coach Steve McNamara's departure to take the England job. McNamara eventually left in mid-July, since when Lee St Hilaire has been picking the team until Potter's arrival, once his work is done at Grand Final hopefuls St Helens. "We are delighted to have added Ian to our squad," said Bradford chief executive Ryan Duckett. "He is a very experienced player who will add greatly to the depth of our squad for the next two years." "It has been our intentions to increase the size of the squad and the competition for places next year and Ian fits the bill perfectly."
