Walker has recently returned from a double leg break |
Bradford Bulls have agreed a deal to sign Hull KR centre Chev Walker for next season. The 27-year-old former Great Britain player is returning from almost a year out with a double leg break and played for the Robins' Under-20s recently. "It's been a long slog but there was never a doubt that I'd be back playing again," said Walker. "The light at the end of the tunnel was a long way away but I've got there now and it's brilliant." He added: "Now I aim to grow with the Bulls and get back to how I know I can play." Walker joined Hull KR in 2007 after less than a year in rugby union with Bath, following his move from Leeds. He has scored five tries in 31 appearances since his switch from Bath but was not offered a new deal by the Robins and will join Bradford when his contract expires this winter. Walker suffered the horrific injury against former club Leeds in the Super League play-offs last September and made his comeback for the Rovers youngsters against Wigan Warriors on Saturday, in a 34-10 defeat. | 606: DEBATE |
Walker becomes the first signing for new Bulls coach Mick Potter, who will join from St Helens next season. "Talking to a few boys, Mick Potter is just the kind of coach I want to work with," he said. "He always demands the best of you which is ideal for me. I like a coach who will give me some kind of role. "I want someone breathing down my neck and giving me a bit of direction and I can't wait for pre-season training to begin."
