Walker is likely to miss the entire 2010 Super League season |
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan says he does not expect centre Chev Walker to play this season. The 27-year-old suffered a double compound leg fracture in the Robins' play-off defeat at Leeds last September and has not played since. Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside: "My initial feeling after talking to the surgeon is no [he won't play in 2010]. The most important thing is Chev." Walker contracted an infection in the break which set him back. Morgan said: "We were hopeful that we would get him back around now but that was before the infection and the most important thing is his well being and making sure he can play - if it's not 2010, beyond that." However, the Robins coach says he is willing to be proved wrong: "Things have been defied before and we'll give him every opportunity to do that and if he can be available for that last couple of rounds - that would be great. "He's doing some running and turning but he's some way off doing contact work. The surgeon doesn't think he's at that stage right now. The last thing we want to do is get it 98% right and go out there and re-injure himself."
