Winger Halley in England switch

Dave Halley
Halley has been on loan at Wakefield this season

Bradford Bulls back Dave Halley has switched his international allegiance from Wales to England.

The Bradford-born full-back or winger, 22, has made the decision in a bid to experience the new-style Four Nations tournament at the end of the season.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for Wales but have now set my ambitions on earning selection for my native England," said Halley.

Halley has just signed a new deal at Bradford that takes him up until 2011.

The versatile back has earned four caps for Wales since his debut in 2007 after qualifying through his grandparents.

He explained: "The ultimate target, based on an ability to play both full-back and wing, is to represent England in the next World Cup in 2013.

"The England arena is highly competitive and challenging but at 22, with a new Bulls contract just signed, I am taking the opportunity to set new personal goals at club and international level."
