Blue Sox run rampant

Wakefield 26-46 Halifax

Halifax ensured that Wakefield continue to struggle at Belle Vue, scoring seven tries to notch up an impressive away win by a 20-point margin.

I am here to coach and it has been a pretty difficult environment to coach in.

The result takes Halifax towards mid-table but leaves Wakefield, disrupted by the imminent departure of Nathan Wood and Ben Westwood to Warrington, placed perilously just two points from bottom.

However, Wakefield were in contention until the final quarter of the match, and scored first through a ninth-minute Ian Knott penalty.

But two tries in the space of three minutes from David Woods and Jamie Bloem - who each converted their own touch downs - ensured the visitors took command.

Colum Halpenny added another four points soon afterwards.

The home team did give themselves hope at the interval after Brad Davis and Kris Tassell ran in tries.

But Halpenny and Woods wasted no time in extending the Blue Sox's lead after the break.

I was very happy - the positive thing is that we kept bouncing back

Andrew Frew and Kris Tassell again narrowed the gap with tries to make it 28-26, but Halifax dominated the last 20 minutes to ensure victory with scores from Andrew Dunemann, Jason Flowers and Shane McMenemy.
