The win meant the Rhinos moved into a share of the lead with the Bradford Bulls. Hull started brightly and scored an opening try through Sean Ryan after two minutes.
But the Rhinos overcame their poor start, with stand-off Kevin Sinfield orchestrating play behind their dominant pack. Matt Adamson marked his return from injury with a try after nine minutes to haul Leeds back into the match, and Ben Walker's try soon after gave them the lead. The Rhinos kept their momentum going with two other well-taken tries before half-time through Keith Senior and Tonie Carroll as the home side took a 20-10 at the break. Hull wing Craig Poucher scored after the interval but the home side got back in the driving seat on 54 minutes when Sheridan jinked his way over for a solo try.
Leeds then made sure with two further tries in the last quarter.
